The Charles County Public Library serves a population of about 155,000 through four branches with a combined square footage of 67,300 sq. feet. Individually, the branches are: La Plata (12,000 sq. feet), Potomac in Indian Head (10,000 sq. feet), P.D. Brown in Waldorf (14,300) and Waldorf West, also in Waldorf (31,000). Through a Mobile Services program initiated in 2017, the library serves many people who otherwise may not be able to reach one of the branch locations.

rly 861,000 physical items and 86,000 downloadable items, saw 25,730 people attend one of 1,343 library programs, and answered more than 58,000 reference questions. Charles County Public Library cardholders in good standing can also use their card at any public library in Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties; the libraries share online resources and a catalog.

The library operates with 68 FTE staff members, an annual budget of almost $6.8 million, and a collection of 203,716 print and non-print items. CCPL is part of the state-wide Overdrive consortium, which offers hundreds more downloadable audio materials and ebooks.

The
Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. (C4CCPL) is an all-volunteer, non-profit group that supports the library through fundraising and public awareness efforts.

The
Charles County Public Library Board, which governs the library, consists of seven trustees appointed by the Charles County Commissioners.
