About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will be someone who excels in seeing the big picture — an individual who understands the needs of the Crystal Lake library community while also possessing the ability to adapt to change, be responsive to needs, and confident enough to guide the library as it continues to move forward with the latest in services and resources.
The Executive Director should be an individual who embraces their role as an advocate for the library, whether participating in community events, working with other community leaders, or conversing with people one-on-one.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High-level public library leadership with financial and planning responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment that embraces creative problem-solving and shared decision-making
- An understanding of current and emerging trends in library operations, including customer service, technology, and programming
- A well-developed business sense coupled with an intellectual curiosity and willingness to explore new ideas
- Prior experience as a library director is desired but not required
- Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school
Salary $115,000/year or higher, negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits. The library, through the City of Crystal Lake, participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Plan (IMRF).
