North Webster is located in Kosciusko County in north central Indiana, in a region known for its many freshwater lakes, outdoor recreational opportunities, seasonal festivals, and Amish communities. Summer visitors flock to the area for the chance to enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, and water skiing. Conveniently located between South Bend and Fort Wayne, North Webster and neighboring communities offer a relaxing lifestyle that combines the charm of small town living with the amenities of bigger cities.
In July of 2020, the library moved into a new standalone building for the first time in its history. This beautiful 20,000 square foot facility is truly community-focused, offering everything from meeting rooms to a high-level demonstration kitchen to inviting spaces for reading and genealogy research.
About the Opportunity:
The successful candidate will be a creative and confident leader with an approachable, honest, and collaborative style. This individual should be visionary with an awareness of both traditional and emerging trends in how libraries serve their communities.
The Director will be an advocate for the library and enthusiastically participate in community events and organizations. As a consensus builder, the Director will understand that the Board of Trustees, library staff, and community members all have roles in making their library both relevant and irreplaceable.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Exceptional leadership, administrative, and budget skills. Previous Director experience not required
- Demonstrated ability to continue moving the library forward to best serve the needs of the community
- Intellectual curiosity and openness to new ideas, coupled with good business sense
- Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school
Salary $60,000 to $70,000/year, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
