The Board of Trustees of the Warrenville Public Library District in Warrenville, Illinois is seeking a leader with an abundance of enthusiasm and passion to serve as Executive Director. This opportunity is available due to the upcoming retirement of the current Executive Director.

The Warrenville Public Library District provides services to approximately 14,100 residents in and near the City of Warrenville, a western suburb of Chicago.

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will be someone who excels in seeing the big picture with a focus on the details — an individual who understands the needs of the Warrenville community while also possessing the ability to adapt to change, be responsive to needs, and confident enough to guide the library as it continues to move forward with the latest in services and resources.

As an advocate for the library, the Executive Director will enthusiastically participate in community events and forge strong bonds with community leaders and the public. This individual will nurture an inclusive culture that encourages, celebrates, and values the community it serves.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Lead and inspire the staff and the library in a highly professional manner, fostering teamwork and trust
  • Ability to act as a consensus builder and work collaboratively with the library board, staff, and community
  • A resourceful individual who possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to embrace creative problem-solving and empower staff to maximize their talents
  • Act as an imaginative and confident leader with an approachable, honest, respectful style
Additional Qualifications
  • High-level public library managerial and leadership experience including demonstrated financial and planning expertise; Warrenville is an Illinois District type of library.
  • Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution
Salary $85,000 to $110,000/year, negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits. The library participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
